Faith Ringold (American) b. 1930 Quilting Bee at Arles, 1991
Acrylic on canvas, tyed die, peiced fabric border, 74 x 80, Private Collection
I know that Faith Ringold wrote books that included her paintings. One of them was about the underground railroad. This painting was in one of her stories. I don't know which one. This painting reminds me of a happy time in a person's life. I think the artist coulld have held back on the yellow. it makes it look too bright. I still like the shading in the houses behind. this reminds me of the painting by Van Gouh were the sunflowers are in the pot. That painting is also very vivid.
